What I caught on Fayette last night.

Fished Fayette from 11:30 last night until:4:00am this morning. I was heading into Oak Thicket, came past the no wake buoys, backed down to 5mph. I started to get a few things prepped for docking when I noticed alot of bait fish activity in the middle of the channel in front of the public fishing dock. I eased in and noticed what looked like a piece of crumpled paper being pushed by the breeze, but upon closer inspection what I came upon was a tiny kitten struggling to keep it’s head above the water. I cut the motor and drifted up next to him, he was totally exhausted and about to go under so I scooped him up,dried him off and wrapped him in a towel. He was totally non aggressive and really seemed to understand what was going on. After loading up I placed him, with his towel on the passenger side floor and headed home to Bastrop. When I got home the wife had just got up to let the dogs out, so I filled her in,now if any of you guy have a wife like mine that has very strong mothering instincts you know what happened. She was to my truck in a flash and started to tend to the kitten like a newborn, which is something I truly love her for. So she tended the kitten until 11:00 when the shelter opened, we took him there and told them the story. The immediately gave the kitten a high calorie food and a b12 shot. They estimate him to be 3 to 4 weeks old and they feel he will be just fine and ready for adoption in 4 weeks. There were 2 guys fishing at the public dock at the time, and I don’t want to accuse anyone but I have a hard time believing that kitten got out that far by himself. I just thank God he placed me in a position to help him.003.JPG003.JPG
